“The most amazing women shop here and I feel so lucky to know them.”
My fashion resumé: I opened Garbarini more than 25 years ago in Denver’s Larimer Square. Eventually the store moved to Cherry Creek North and recently expanded to twice the original size, adding gifts and accessories to the already-amazing fashions and shoes. What I love most about my store and my career: Reinventing the store twice a year and the buying trips that invigorate me — after 25 years I’m still excited to see the next season’s looks, colors and styles. The store is my creative outlet, my laboratory, my canvas, my playground. I want everyone to come in and enjoy it. What about my customers? Helping people put their wardrobes together and seeing them happy when they’re shopping for fashion. The most amazing women shop here and I feel so lucky to know them. Why not sell on the web? You need to come in to experience the mix of merchandise. The music, the vibe in the store and our amazing people all help to make your shopping more wonderful and put you in the mood to find your best fashion. Personal style credo: Almost everything in my closet is black and everything goes together, looks good and wears well. Honestly, I don’t like to spend a lot of time getting dressed. Couldn’t live without: The 4,000 songs on my iPod.

“I love design. And I love people. Perfect combination.”
My fashion resumé:
I have worked at Garbarini for the past 25 years. That says a lot about what an incredible place this is — from the people I work with to the amazing customers who have become my close friends. In my job I am lucky enough to serve as a personal shopper, wardrobe consultant, published stylist and Garbarini’s marketing liaison. Recently, we brought Donald Pliner and Nicole Milller to Denver for personal appearances in the store, including TV and magazine interviews. What makes me good at my job?
I love design. And I love people. Perfect combination. I’m not really a label girl but have a huge appreciation for a beautifully designed piece of clothing or shoe — it’s all in the details: cut, fabric, flow, texture! What about my customers? I try to really listen to my clients and work with their lifestyle. It’s all about the relationships I form with my clients and how I can help them feel great. They have to be comfortable in whatever they are wearing or they will never wear it. Personal motto:
Treat others how you want to be treated. Personal style credo:
I don’t believe in one hit wonders. I want to be able to wear a piece more than one way and for more than one season. Fashion advice:
Start with the basics. Buy quality, then only buy pieces you love that can be worked into your closet. Just because a piece is a deal, doesn’t mean you will wear it. Couldn’t live without:
Kindness and a kick-ass leather jacket.

“Throw in some fun and lively trendy pieces each season. Spice things up.”
My fashion resumé:
I spent six years working at Ralph Lauren (beautiful and preppy) and nearly five years here at Garbarini — fashion-forward, eclectic, always gorgeous and fun. I love being around beautiful clothes, amazing people and truly fun customers. Fashion icons:
Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Ralph Lauren. Wouldn’t it have been amazing if we could have had all three at the same cocktail party? Wardrobe advice:
A lot of basics and a few trendies. I say create a wardrobe using beautiful basics and then throw in some fun and lively pieces each season. Spice things up. Couldn’t live without:
My Barbara Bui handbag

“Step it up and change [your personal style]. Keep ‘em guessing.”
About me:
I’ve been a Denver resident for 20 years. I’m the son of a military father and a hard-working mother. I was born in Europe and traveled extensively around the world. That certainly shaped who I am today, and my sense of style. My fashion resumé:
I’ve been with Garbarini for 11 years. Prior to being here, I’ve worked for many different size and types of fashion stores, gaining experience from each, from sales to buying to personal shopping and visual displays. Personal motto:
Variety is the spice of life. Fashion advice:
Once you see your vision — your personal style — everywhere, it’s time to step it up and change it. Keep ‘em guessing. I say start with the basics. So much can be accomplished with a great blazer, a tank, great jeans and a killer shoe — trust me! Fashion icons:
The Duke of Windsor, Pablo Picasso, Cary Grant, Sean Connery and John F. Kennedy. Favorite part of my job:
Nothing beats having a client come in at the end of her rope and have her leave the shop feeling beautiful and hopeful about the road ahead — that’s what it’s all about for me. Can’t live without:

“Dress for yourself. Make sure what you’re buying makes you happy.”
My fashion resumé:
I began working in fashion with Ralph Lauren, then moved on to manage and be a buyer for a small boutique. Then I found my home here at Garbarini. Why a career in fashion?
I have loved fashion since I was a little girl. In high school I would pour over Vogue, Elle and W Magazine searching for inspiration for an outfit to wear to school the next day. Becoming a mother has allowed me to branch out and see other aspects of fashion needs and empathize with lots of my clients who want to buy something fabulous but also have to get home to make dinner for a toddler. About my customers:
I have learned not to judge by appearance. My customers come from all walks of life. They want someone they can trust — that’s me! — to help them with their fashion decisions. Personal motto:
“I honor the spirit in you which is also in me” — Namaste Fashion icon:
Coco Chanel Fashion advice:
Dress for yourself. Make sure what you’re buying makes you happy. Keep it simple and only buy great pieces. If it’s not a 10 on a scale from 1-10 then don’t buy it. Favorite part of my job:
All the wonderful people that I get to meet and forge true friendships with. I love adapting to the ever-fluid world of fashion. Couldn’t live without:
My son Dillon: my best accessory! And of course, high heels.
Julie sales associate/shoe & jewelry buyer/master merchandiser extraordinaire
“Any age, any body type can look fabulous.”
My fashion resumé:
I have 24 years of fashion retail experience, 15 of those years right here at Garbarini. I have also worked at Neiman Marcus and Benetton. I love working in the fashion industry because it can be truly magical when you can help make a woman see herself in a new light. I believe fashion can transform. What makes me good at my job?
Well, I’m a rock star at what I do! Seriously, I have patience, honesty and mad skills at finding the right pieces for any wardrobe. Oh, and I’m a DJ as a hobby, which means I like a little rock ‘n’ roll mixed in with my fashion. What I have learned from the biz:
I have learned what pieces are key and will stand the test of time. Sometimes it takes our “eye” a while to adjust to what looks right for the season or the seasons to come. I have a great eye. I stay updated. I am most successful when a client is open to suggestions. What about the customer?
I have learned from my clients that the speed of change is dependent upon the person. Sometimes “baby steps” are the only way a woman can move out of the old into a new, updated look. That’s okay — as long as she starts taking those steps! My favorite clients are those who appreciate my frank candor. Personal motto:
Any age, any body type can look fabulous. Emphasize the positive, camouflage the negative Personal style credo:
I believe in updated classics. Balancing classic with rock ‘n’ roll. And honesty. Fashion icons:
Audrey Hepburn & David Bowie. My favorite designer? Depends on the season. Fashion advice:
Start with pieces that work for your body type. Once you have the basics, branch out and find your fashion voice. Balance accessories. Couldn’t live without:
Rock ‘n’ roll, and my jackets by Isabella de Pedro and Barbara Bui.
